Judy Jensen, of Newtown, an accounts receivable analyst with a quick wit and varied background, celebrated her 50th anniversary with Cartus this month, surrounded by co-workers bearing cake, gifts and well-deserved recognition.
When Jensen joined Cartus in 1967, she worked in a small, quiet, second-floor office in Darien. Computer technology was years away — she typed equity checks by hand.
Over the years, she held positions in accounts payable, collections/billing, and accounts receivable before landing in her current role. She moved with Cartus along the way, when the company relocated its headquarters to the current Danbury location in 1993.
“The change is what’s constant,” said Jensen. “It keeps the brain from rotting.”
According to Jensen, technology has enabled her and her co-workers to handle higher work volumes and larger portfolios efficiently. More services are offered, including enhanced compliance controls. Individual roles and job descriptions at Cartus have become more specialized over the years, too, she said.
In addition to work, Jensen has led an interesting personal life, as well. She is a founding member of Cartus’ photography club, Shutterbugs; loves Dr. Who; has been a pyro-technician for 26 years – transitioning from hand-lit fireworks to electronic setups during the span of time – and once held a black belt in Judo.
“Judy, like all of our employees, brings so much to the company, both personally and professionally,” said Amy Meichner, senior vice president of human resources. “We take pride in creating a collaborative environment and company culture, and we believe that’s why so many of our employees choose to stay here as long as they do. Fifty years is a long time; we’re glad Judy’s chosen to spend it with us here at Cartus.”
