The juice cafe with Wifi opened two years ago next to Famous Pizza at 16 PT Barnum Square.

Tatiana Mehmeti and business partners, husband Daldrin Mehmeti and his mother Ajne Mehmeti, preside over the shop that the family opened to fill a void for healthy food and beverages.  This iis commonplace in California where the couple lived before moving to Connecticut.

The business nicely complements Tatiana and Daldrin's Boost Cycle in Newtown.

"We offer spinning with a twist. We have a juice bar but weren't able to offer as many choices as we wanted so we decided to open Boostjuice," she told Daily Voice.

"We're 600 square feet, so not too big, but there's room for our customers to bring their laptop. We have tables and chairs and a couch. We don't advertise but people come through word-of-mouth."

The cafe sits across the street from an ice cream shop, offering an alternative to rich desserts like milkshakes.

"Our thing is to create food art without the guilt. So you pick your base and can build your own fruit bowl with yogurt, fruits, acai berries and toppings."

Tatiana grew up eating acai bowls, the dish popularly eaten on the beaches of her native Brazil. They contain acai berries, fruits, granola, coconut and other "superfoods" she said.  All of these items are offered at the store.

Among toppings for the bowls at Boostjuice are goji berry, seed drizzles, almond butter, agave and Nutella.

Bases also include dragon fruit or "pitaya" and avocado.

Fruit and vegetable smoothies come in many imaginative ways. One of these is a blend of avocado, banana and Greek yogurt, which is homemade on site.

"We added Greek yogurt because everybody likes it. The family (Daldrin and Anjne) is Albanian and we eat yogurt every day."

The business attracts some teens from the high school in the afternoon and moms with kids for lunch, plus people who work in the area.

They opened the cycle studio in 2015.
