Danbury Area Supports Coffeehouse's Campaign For New Espresso Machine

DANBURY, Conn. - Businesses and coffee fans in the Danbury and Bethel area are supporting efforts to help Molten Java Coffeehouse in Bethel, which has announced plans for a fundraiser to purchase a new espresso machine after its old one caught fire last weekend.

Bethel's Molten Java Coffeehouse will hold a fundraiser to purchase a new expresso machine on Sunday, May 3.

The fundraiser is set for Sunday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with local musicians My Dad's Truck, Union Rail and Dani Capalbo set to perform on Molten Java's front lawn, weather permitting.

Molten Java coffeehouse owner Wendy Cahill talked about the situation with a humorous post on the shop's Facebook page.

“Well, Little Red, our trusty espresso machine, has finally decided to retire. (Yes, notice was given. Yes, I stubbornly ignored it!) So I’m giving a shout-out of thanks to the greatest baristas in the world for being able to pull beautiful shots on our temporary and tiny machine, and to the greatest customers in the world for being patient and making us laugh despite the circumstances.”

There will also be a raffle featuring donated merchandise and gift cards from local businesses and face painting for kids.

To donate to the raffle or for more information, call Molten Java employee and fundraiser organizer Ashley Abbatiello at 475-238-9679. Abbatiello says the cost of a new machine is expected to be $7,000.

Molten Java Coffeehouse is located at 213 Greenwood Ave. in Bethel.
