The seal is only awarded for a three-year period to those agencies that demonstrate continuous compliance with performance standards and a commitment to providing safe and effective care.

The state's survey, taken last month, evaluated organization, provision of care, treatment and services, emergency management, human resources, individual rights and responsibilities and leadership.

Western Connecticut Home Care provides nursing, therapy, medical social work and home health aide services, including cardiac care and management, COPD care and management, diabetes management, fall prevention assessment, geriatric care, infusion therapy and other services.

The Joint Commission also will provide the agency with educational training to help staff continue improving its performance.

“This accreditation is a great honor for Western Connecticut Home Care and is very well-deserved,” said State Rep. David Scribner (R-Brookfield), a member of the Board of Directors for the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut.
