This graphic nonfiction book deconstructs the complex ideas behind the historic French Revolutions in an informative and humorous tone complete with comic drawings. It covers the major figures, events and political issues that spanned France’s violent and chaotic period, in which it underwent 15 transitions of government in less than a century.
“The legacy of the French Revolutions remains with us today,” said author Michael J. LaMonica in a press release. “We see it all over the world when an oppressed people rises up against an authoritarian regime demanding that their rights as citizens be recognized.”
He described the book as “fun to both history buffs and the neophyte alike.”
LaMonica is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and was inducted into the National History Honor Society. He subsequently attended Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he obtained his law degree and served as an editor for the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal. He currently is an attorney at the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office and a part-time professor of English at Quinnipiac University.
The title, priced at $15.95, is distributed by Red Wheel/Weiser and illustrated by T. Motley of New York City.
