Mr. Handyman Gets Endorsement For Free Weatherization Services

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The longtime director of an energy services department in Norwalk is helping Mr. Handyman promote its free weatherization services.

Juanita Ball, director of the Energy Services Department for Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now (N.E.O.N.),  made a series of radio commercials for Mr. Handyman of Upper Fairfield County. The business provides free Home Energy Solutions-Income Eligible (HIS-IE) services.

“Weatherization makes your home more comfortable, lowers heating and electric bills, and helps your family’s money go further,’’ said Ball, who has helped thousands of Fairfield County families during her 35-year career.

Customers of Connecticut Light & Power, Yankee Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas whose combined earnings are less than 60 percent of the state median income level are eligible for free HES-IE services. Program qualification is expedited for households receiving energy assistance or supplemental nutrition assistance from the state.

The HES-IE program also benefits seniors living on Social Security as well as families who are relying on disability or unemployment insurance.

“Many families qualify for energy assistance, but they don’t take advantage of this free weatherization and energy efficiency program,’’ Ball said. “Either they haven’t heard about it or they don’t believe it’s really free.”

She said Mr. Handyman is a trustworthy energy efficiency expert. “Families need to know about companies they can trust,’’ Ball said. “Mr. Handyman is a family-run company that focuses on weatherizing, insulating and improving homes. Their team is very committed to customer satisfaction."

“Mr. Handyman is honored to have Ms. Ball as a fan,’’ said Lorenzo Wyatt, co-owner of Mr. Handyman.
