“It’s a one stop shop for everything in flooring,’’ said Paolello, who manages the Wilton location for owner Patrick McCarney. “Besides carpet, tile and hardwood we have countertops, vanities and have certified professionals to specify, design and install every product we sell."

The store opened in early June at 643 Danbury Road in Wilton. Westwood also has locations in Old Greenwich in Connecticut and Ossining and Cortlandt Manor in New York. The Greenwich location is dedicated to wide plank flooring, and the Ossining location has hardwood tile, countertops and window treatments from Hunter Douglas. The Cortlandt Manor location has fabrication equipment and is stocked with slabs of granite and marble.

The Wilton location offers a designer showroom with multiple finishes for every budget.

“I’ve known the owner for 15 years, and he was doing a lot of work in the area,’’ Paolello said. “He happened by the area and thought it would be a good fit. There are other stores in the area, but they’re mostly single-finish operations. That’s where our strong suit is. And we have the added advantage of being able to do countertops. It’s all here under one roof.”

Paolello started in carpet business with his father over 34 years ago, and the business evolved into offering a variety of finishes. He maintains the same passion he had for the business as when he started.

“It’s all I know,’’ he said. “I started out on the ground level. I enjoy dealing with people and transforming a space. It’s fulfilling when you see a customer’s home go from ordinary to extraordinary.”

During Paolello’s years in the industry, he has seen homeowners choose wood over carpet as the primary flooring option. “It’s a resilient floor, easily maintained, provides visual warmth and is reasonably comfortable to walk on,’’ he said. “Plus its lifespan is three-fold over carpet. On top of that is that fact that over the last 10 years, allergies have become so rampant. Years ago, there was 70 percent soft surface and 30 percent hard surface in homes. Now that has flip-flopped with options like vinyl, cork, bamboo and laminate."
