Walmart officials informed Monroe-based developer Kimball Landing Holdings that it has decided to no longer pursue building a 150,000-square-foot store on the site off Route 25 near the Trumbull border, the Courier said.

No reason was given for changing the decision for the Monroe project, which had drawn protests from some neighbors.

Kimball Landings said it would focus on other options for developing the vacant property, according to the Monroe Courier.

The developer had said recently that all permits were in place and only a final sign-off from Walmart was needed, the Courier said.
