The Turkey Trot was originated in 2007 by coach Brian Hayes and the cross-country teams as a way to honor the passing of a favorite Immaculate High teacher, David Couch.
The Couch family eventually set up their own scholarship and Hayes, a Danbury police officer, turned to the Hassiak family and requested that the Turkey Trot now be named in honor of Immaculate High School alumnus Donald J. Hassiak '87, a fallen Danbury police officer.
Tarrywile Park is at 70 Southern Blvd., Danbury. The park is directly across the street from Immaculate High School.
