Accessible Art Show Opening At Four Sites Around Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut is holding the last installment in its 7th season of Accessible Art, a year-long, multisite series of exhibitions joining business with art.

From Monday, Nov. 9 and through Friday, Jan. 7, Accessible Art will feature four artists in four venues, as it experiences the ongoing growth of its mission. 

Its goal is to provide more opportunities for artists to show work in local and regional alternative public and private spaces, and make art accessible to the general public.

The 2015 series of jury-selected visual artists and photographers, includes:

  • Ted DeToy of New Fairfield, is showing at Portofino's Restaurant & Wine Bar, 213 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, 203-797-8131. Rendered in expressive primary colors with contemporary neo-cubist flair, hiss works on canvas offers sharp and colorful encounters with familiar imagery related to pop culture, race and gender, American politics and daily life.
  • Maressa Gershowitz of Danbury, is showing at Danbury Public Library, 170 Main St, 203 797-4505. She will stage a two-part show of her photography, the first featuring the everyday views of an attentive traveler, “Through the Windows – Looking for Yourself,” running until Dec. 6, followed by, “Remember Spring?”, which will debut on Dec. 7.
  • Stephanie Krus of Middletown is showing at CityCenter Danbury, 268 Main St. 203-792-1711. An "anthro artist,” she endows animal characters with human characteristics. Her work includes creatures, cartoons and comix in every gallery nook-and-cranny.
  • Tara Tomaselli of Newtown is showing at Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Av. 203-797-4511. Her work embodies vibrant colors and captivating grays inspired by coastal towns.
