This year’s event will be in memory of WCSU alumnus Neil Wagner, Class of '52, a lifetime member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and former dean of the University Center for Lifelong Learning, president of the Faculty Association, chair of the Varsity Governing Board, class adviser, member of the university governance committee and Alumni Golf Tournament co-chairman.
Wagner passed away in May.
The tournament will be conducted in scramble format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Check-in and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with lunch offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tournament program will conclude with a player awards reception at 3 p.m. at the Café on the Green.
Registration is open to the public at a cost of $175 per individual.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the WCSU Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, which annually awards scholarships recognizing Western undergraduate students who have demonstrated exemplary academic achievement and participation in university and community activities.
The fund also provides for the association’s annual award to a graduate student based on academic performance and financial need, as well as the annual May Sherwood Memorial Scholarship given to a senior in high academic standing with a major in education.
