Children accompanied by a parent can join Land Trust Executive Director David Brant for an adventurous hike ending at the magical blueberry patch in Trout Brook Valley. Bring a pail and pick some blueberries to take home. It is a 45-minute hike over easy terrain to the berries and hikers are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.
The next free and open to the public adult hike is the “Shore Birds and what you need to know about them” excursion set for Thursday, Aug. 21, from 6 to 7 p.m., meeting at Gilman Avenue, Bridgeport by the sandbar across from Great Salt Marsh Island in Ash Creek.
Bring binoculars and join Milan Bull of the Connecticut Audubon Society for an opportunity to view and discuss osprey, shorebirds and dusk in the beautiful Ash Creek area. Learn about the different species as well as the importance of conservation of this important salt marsh.
Ranging from bird watching, to natural history, to vernal pool study to local geology and many other subjects, Aspetuck Land Trust offers a variety of guided hikes both for adults and kids each month for its members plus special events free and open to the public.

Aspetuck Land Trust is a local nonprofit land conservation organization founded in 1966 to preserve open space in Westport, Weston, Fairfield and Easton.
