Catch Oscar-Nominated Short Films On Palace Danbury Screen

DANBURY, Conn. -- The red carpet is rolling out again for the Oscars this weekend at the Avon Theatre Film Center in Stamford and the Palace Danbury.

At the Oscar Night Party at the Avon Theatre from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday, guests will Walk the Red Carpet and enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. There will be prizes for "Best Red Carpet Attire" and "Best 1967 Summer of Love-themed Attire."

Then a live telecast from Hollywood of the Red Carpet arrivals at 7 p.m.and the 89th Annual Oscar telecast at 8:30 p.m. with host Jimmy Kimmel will be shown on the Avon screen.

A gourmet buffet supper will be served by Giovanni Gentile, owner of Capriccio Cafe and Bar Rosso in Stamford.

And for film buffs on Saturday is a chance to attend all-day screenings of the Oscar-nominated shorts at the Palace in Danbury.

The short films are rarely shown in theaters and often the most creative of the Oscar films.

The showings are: Animation at 2 p.m., Live action at 4 p.m. and Documentary at 7 p.m.

Tickets to Party With Avon On Oscar Night are $100 for Avon members and $125 for non-members by calling 203-661-0321 and 203-967-3660, ext. 2. Proceeds will support the Avon and seven college scholarship awards to area high school students.
