The "Emerging Artist Series" begins Wednesday with singer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter.

"We're essentially offering musicians that significant transition from 'support act' for nationally known musicians to becoming headliners on their own," said Allison Stockel, executive director of The Ridgefield Playhouse, in a press release. "The Ridgefield Playhouse is excited to partner with the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut to introduce like-minded people to new musical acts that they may not have discovered on their own. It’s the arts community helping one another, while connecting with each other in a relaxed fun setting.”

“We are thrilled to partner with The Ridgefield Playhouse on the Emerging Artist Series," said Lisa Scails, executive director of the Cultural Alliance, in a press release. “Our constant aim is to support artists of all disciplines. This partnership makes it possible to broaden our focus on the performing arts and its diversity of artists.”

Frankenreiter is a former surfer and protege of singer-songwriter Jack Johnson. His laid-back style harkens to the Hawaiian islands and incorporates slack key guitar, lap steel and ukulele.

Members of the Cultural Alliance will receive a discount on tickets and the opportunity to meet the artist and network before each performance. The "Meet the Artist" gathering for Frankenreiter begins at 6:30 p.m.
