Danbury Library Plans Women's History Month Events

DANBURY, Conn. – The Danbury Library, along with the Friends of the Danbury Library and the League of Women Voters, will celebrate Women’s History Month during March with special free programs held in the library’s Farioly Program Room.

Michelle LaRue will portray Mrs. Harry Horatio Hemmenway on Sunday, March 22, from 2-3 p.m., in her one-woman performance of “Someone Must Wash the Dishes: An Anti-Suffrage Satire.” Set in 1912, the monologue was written by pro-suffragist and Unitarian minister Marie Jenney Howe.

LaRue goes around the country in three different one-woman plays and is a member of the actors unions Actors' Equity Association and AFTRA.

On Sunday, March 29, from 2-4 p.m., the library will screen a 2004 HBO film starring Hillary Swank and Frances O’Connor as activists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns, respectively. The cast features Anjelica Houston and Patrick Dempsey.
