Danbury Museum & Historical Society Focuses On The Fifties

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Museum & Historical Society will open their new exhibit, “Focus on the Fifties,” on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10 a.m.

The public is invited to take a nostalgic journey into the not-so-distant past with an exhibit that showcases the Danbury people, places, events, and objects that defined the city for a decade.

“Danbury was full of fun, poised for massive growth and focused…it was the ‘50s,” Brigid Guertin, Executive Director of the Danbury Museum and City Historian said in a statement.

Visitors will be given an opportunity to recall the Floods of ’55, the Great Danbury State Fair, a bustling Main Street, Charles Ives and Marian Anderson, parades and soda pop. Schools, recreation, hatting and other topics are prominently featured.

Visitors are welcome Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October 31, 2015.

Admission is free although donations are gratefully accepted.

The Danbury Museum and Historical Society is located at 43 Main St.
