Leary was Twain’s maid from 1880 until his death in 1910. The performance is based on “A Lifetime with Mark Twain,” a memoir about Leary’s 30 years in the Clemens’ household. It was put together with the help of Mary Lawton, a childhood friend of Twain’s daughter, and published in 1925.

This event is presented by the Danbury Museum & Historical Society and the Herstory Theater, which researched Leary’s life for the play.

“The programs [by Herstory Theater] are always history-filled, educational, inspirational and always enjoyed by our guests,” said Brigid Guertin, the museum's executive director.

The buffet luncheon will be provided by Two Steps Downtown Grille and Ciao Catering & Events. Admission is $25 per person, and it covers the performance as well as food.

Reservations are recommended as space is limited. Seating will begin at 11:30 a.m. and lunch begins at noon. The program starts at 12:30 p.m.
