DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Concert Chorus and the Danbury Symphony Orchestra will join forces Saturday to perform Handel's "Messiah" at the First Congregational Church in Danbury.

The performance will feature soloists Amy Goldin, soprano; Kirsten Sollek, mezzo-soprano; Nils Neubert, tenor; Joseph Beutel, bass; and conducted by Christine R. Howlett.

Goldin brings a rich experience of soloing for classical favorites such as Bach’s "Magnificat" and many Bach cantatas, according to a release from the Danbury Music Centre.

Sollek’s voice has been praised as “an ideal Bach alto," and Neubert is known for delivering a powerful performance, the release said.

The rich voice of Beutel has pleased audiences across many genres, from opera to musical theater. Howlett is an accomplished choir director who has performed throughout Europe.

The Danbury Concert Chorus and the Danbury Symphony Orchestra are both part of the Danbury Music Centre, founded in 1935. These ensembles are the two oldest groups still part of the organization today, the release said.

The Danbury Music Centre is also home to the Danbury Community Orchestra, the Danbury Preparatory String Orchestra, the Nutcracker Ballet and an educational Summer Festival.

The concert is free and open to the public thanks to Preferred Utilities.  It will be from 3 - 5:30 p.m. For additional information, visit danburymusiccentre.org.

The First Congregational Church is at 164 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury.
