Danbury Palace Hosts Premiere Of Vatican Museum Film

DANBURY, Conn. -- The world’s greatest art collection is coming to the big screen for the first time. The Palace Danbury Theatre will host the Connecticut premiere of the film, "The Vatican Museums: The Greatest Art Collection in History," on Sunday, Dec. 7, starting at 3 p.m.

For the very first time, ultra high definition cameras have been allowed inside the Vatican Museums and The Sistine Chapel, giving audiences an unprecedented look at their spectacular collections of art works that span more than 2,000 years. 

The is a unique and fascinating film of one of the world’s most renowned museums. A mega-production team of 40 professionals traveled hundreds of miles through the halls of The Vatican while filming some of the most rare and precious works of art in the world.

From the outstanding artistry of classic statues to the cast of Michelangelo’s Pieta; from paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, Chagall and Dali; from the extraordinary frescos in the Rooms of Raphael to the spectacular work of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, theater audiences will experience the journey under the artful guidance of the Director of the Vatican Museums, Professor Antonio Paolucci, who expertly leads us through the past, present and future of the museums.

The film includes 15 minutes of “behind the scenes” extra features with the museum's director Professor Paolucci and the film’s director Marco Pianigiani recalling the challenges and triumphs involved in making this epic film.
