Danbury Serves Up Business Supports The Arts Awards At Breakfast

DANBURY, Conn. -- The ninth annual Business Supports The Arts breakfast, the premier fundraising event of the year for the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, will be held at the Matrix Corporate Center at 39 Old Ridgebury Road in Danbury.

The breakfast will be served up from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15t.

This event is to support and recognize the outstanding support of the arts by business leaders and volunteers.

This year's honorees, nominated by their peers, are the Savings Bank of Danbury for the BSA Award; Steve Zemo, for the Arts in the Community Award; and Allison Stockel, for the Heart of the Arts Award.

Randy Cohen, vice president of research and policy at Americans for the Arts, is the keynote speaker.

“We are honored to partner with the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut as the title sponsor of the Business Supports the Arts awards breakfast in the fall,” says Cindy Merkle, president and CEO for Union Savings Bank. “We truly believe the organization is a tremendous resource for the arts and culture in our surrounding communities.”

Union Savings Banks has recently contributed to $2,500 as a kickoff for this fundraising event.

In the past, Savings Bank of Danbury foundation has donated more then $1.25 million in grants to several agencies to support local nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture.
