To celebrate their 50-year career, the four surviving original members -- Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir -- have reunited to play five final shows.
"Forever Grateful" is a music festival that will include a simulcast of Friday's concert. The festival will be at Ives Concert Park, 43 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury, with the gates opening at 3 p.m., according to a press release.
As a longtime fan of the Grateful Dead, Cathy Moore, owner of Promotions In Motion, a special events marketing and production company in Danbury, saw the vision for this event, according to a press release.
The music festival also will include live performances by Grateful Dead tribute bands throughout the afternoon/evening along with various exhibitors, food and beverages, according to a press release.
“We are excited to build this event with Ives Concert Park,” said Moore in a press release. “If people have never seen the Grateful Dead perform this is their last opportunity to do so.
“Whether you're a Dead Head or just interested in experiencing the true vibe of a Dead show, put on your best tie-dye and come in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead and their last-ever performance together. It’s a part of rock 'n' roll history in the making along with a night of music, dancing, food, vendors and people just having a good time. There’s nothing to do but smile, smile, smile.”
“Forever Grateful” tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. To order tickets, visit www.ivesconcertpark.com.
