Danbury's Two Steps Heralds 25th First Night With Benefit Dinner

DANBURY, Conn. -- As First Night Danbury prepares to celebrate its 25th year of New Year's Festivities, Two Steps Downtown Grille will host a benefit four-course dinner.

Past First Night performers are invited to dine as CityCenter reminisces and heralds a new 25 years. Tom Devine's popular Two Steps Down Grille at 5 Ives St. will celebrate the milestone by hosting an evening of dining and laughing. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. 

This year, First Night Danbury will be held in spaces throughout CityCenter Danbury on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31  The event theme this year is "Make New Friends, Keep the Old." The auld lang syne maxim continues with, "These are Silver, Those are Gold."

With his uncanny magical, juggling skills Boston’s Robert Clarke, who first appeared at First Night in 2004 and has been invited back to host this year’s vaudeville at the Palace Danbury. He'll also share his talents at the benefit evening, providing a roller coaster ride of cheers, smiles, and 100 percent entertainment.  Since 1991, "LuckyBob” has amazed international audiences from Harvard Square to Singapore, and 40-plus U.S. states. 

Here is the four-course dinner menu:

  • 1st Course: Risotto Fritters in a fresh basil tomato sauce drizzled with a basil aioli
  • 2nd Course: Mixed Field Greens with dried cranberries, apples, bacon, red onion and crumbled feta in a white balsamic vinaigrette
  • 3rd Course: Braised Short Rib sauced with an adobe pinot noir demi-glace, or Lobster Crusted Cod sauced with a delicate lobster bisque; both served with fresh roasted asparagus and whipped potatoes
  • 4th Course: Flourless Chocolate Torte with a cappuccino caramel and mocha whipped cream

The cost is $58 per person, including drinks. Funds received will support First Night Danbury.
