DANBURY, Conn. -- Western Connecticut State University is offering several events this week, including a theater presentation, open mic night and more.

Some of the upcoming events include:

  • The WCSU Percussion Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Monday in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall of the Visual and Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
  • The dean of students hosts Tuesdays at Noon, featuring performer Sophia Cannavo. The event is free and open to the public. Call 203-837-9700 for more information or email diazv@wcsu.edu.
  • Naturalist Steve Brill will conduct a foraging tour at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Westside Nature Preserve. The tour will be free, and the public is invited. For more information, send an email to weinsteinl@wcsu.edu.
  • Violist Hannah Levinson, soprano Patty Goble and baritone Richard Weidlich will join WCSU professor of music Russell Hirshfield, on piano, and Dan Goble, dean of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, on saxophone, in a recital performance of music by Rhian Samuel. The recital will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall of the Visual and Performing Arts Center. Admission will be free, and the public is invited. Donations will be accepted.
  • The WCSU department of theatre arts presents “Smokey Joe’s Café” April 15-26 at the Visual and Performing Arts Center. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and April 24 and 25; with 2 p.m. matinees April 19 and 26. Seating is extremely limited.   • WCSU will present the Midtown Coffeehouse at 8 p.m. Thursday in Alumni Hall. The coffeehouse will feature WXCI 91.7 Open Mic Night. Admission will be free, and the public is invited.
