A downtown Danbury tradition, Halloween on the Green draws hundreds of costumed revelers -- to compete for prizes for Most Original, Scariest, Cutest, Funniest, and "Best of the Best."

The 25th Halloween on the Green will be held from 2-4 p.m., on the CityCenter Danbury Green (at Ives Street).

The free event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Danbury, the Danbury Jaycees and CityCenter Danbury.

Goodie bags filled with candies provided by Walgreens will be given to the first 500 costumed children who register and prizes will be awarded after a 3:30 p.m. parade around CityCenter.

There will be several games on hand to play including "Guess the number of candy corns in a jar," "Guess the weight of a plump pumpkin" and traditional Portuguese street games, courtesy of the Portuguese Cultural Center.

Wells Fargo Bank is providing a free photo booth so the family can go home with a "selfie" souvenir of the event.

Parking is available at the Patriot Garage adjacent to the Green. Level 5 of the Patriot Garage will also be used as the rain location, if necessary.
