Engage In Wide Range Of Performances At Caramoor's Fall Festival

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Audiences can enjoy a diverse array of musical acts by heavy- hitters from the worlds of classical, jazz, symphonic and American roots at Caramoor Center For Music and the Arts' Fall Festival from Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21.

The Fall Festival features performers Béla Fleck, Brooklyn Rider, Joshua Redman, The Knights and Gil Shaham. 

Legendary banjo virtuoso Fleck teams up with the inventive string quartet Brooklyn Rider on Friday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m., in the Venetian Theater. 

The program includes "Night Flight Over Water," Fleck's quintet for banjo and string quartet, as well as works from Brooklyn Rider’s versatile repertoire, solo turns by Béla and more. 

The Knights are joined by jazz visionary Redman and his Quartet known for their fresh arrangements of tunes by Imogen Heap, classical music infused with Brazilian tango and timeless Jazz standards on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m., in the Venetian Theater.

The Fall Festival will close on Sunday, Sept. 21 with two shows from Gil Shaham and The Knights at 1 p.m. and at 4 p.m in the Venetian Theater. The groups will perform a family concert featuring excerpts from Prokofiev and Dvo?ák. The full concert will take place at 4 p.m.  

Both composers drew on folk music for many of their compositions. The program features Prokofiev’s "Overture on Hebrew Themes" and "Violin Concerto No. 2," as well as excerpts from Dvorák’s "Cypresses for String Quartet" and "Symphony No. 7."

As part of a collaboration between Caramoor and WQXR, the concert will be broadcast live on  WQXR 105.9 FM, its sister station, WQXW 90.3 and online at www.wqxr.org.
