Guitar Virtuoso Jason Vieaux Returns To Caramoor For Upcoming Performance

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Guitar virtuoso Jason Vieaux will return to Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts to perform in the Sunken Garden on Thursday, July 24 at 6 p.m.

His concert – which celebrates music from a vast array of genres including jazz, classical and Latin American – includes Fernando Sor’s "Variations on a Theme of Mozart," Isaac Albéniz’s "Caprichio Catalan and Torre Bermeja," Dan Visconti’s "The Devil’s Strum," Paulo Bellinati’s "Jongo," Vieaux’s own arrangements of Pat Metheny’s "Always and Forever," Duke Ellington’s "In a Sentimental Mood" and Fernando Bustamente’s "Misionera."

Vieaux’s solo recitals have been featured in major guitar series around North America, as well as many of the important guitar festivals in Asia, Australia, Europe and Mexico. Recent and future highlights include Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and New York's 92nd Street Y. 

Vieaux is also involved with teaching guitar students, and was recently awarded an opportunity to further the education of young artists with the Jason Vieaux School of Classical Guitar. 

Launched with ArtistWorks Inc. in 2012, the Jason Vieaux School of Classical Guitar, is an unprecedented technological interface that provides one-on-one online study with Vieaux for guitar students around the world. In 2011, he co-founded the guitar department at The Curtis Institute of Music, and he has taught at the Cleveland Institute of Music since 2001.
