DANBURY, Conn. -- For the first time ever, Danbury will host what's being billed as "The 1st Annual Connecticut Taco Festival." And if you book before July 4, you can get a 20 percent ticket discount.
The event, set for Saturday, August 26 at the Danbury Ice Arena, will feature a variety of taco selections from restaurants and food trucks around Connecticut, frozen margaritas, tequila and Mexican beer, Lucha Libre Wrestling featuring Rey Mysterio and Jerry Lawler, taco-eating contests, live music, performances, kid’s activities, vendors and more.
Restaurants involved so far include El Coyote (Monroe, Brookfield and New Milford) and Rubamba Restaurant (New Haven). There will also be food trucks such as Brazilian Gula Grill (South Windsor) and Pork Friends and Co. (Meriden) in attendance.
Early-bird tickets are $45 and include free tacos, two voting tickets for your favorite tacos, access to the bar, entry to live music, performances and wrestling, t-shirt and free giveaways, including a shot glass.
Taco-eating contest participation is $100, which excludes general admission. General admission increases to $50 on July 14. VIP tickets for no line wait for tacos and bar, along with optimal viewing of performances and wrestling, are $100.
