Briarcliff Benefit Street Fair Set For Thursday

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – For the final First Thursday street festival of the year, Briarcliff stores are planning to "Share the Love" with the Ossining Children's Center and St. Matthew's Child and Day Care Center by donating a percentage of their sales to the centers.

"A lot of people from Briarcliff do use the Ossining Children's Center because we don't have anything like that here," said Donald Borho, the owner of Wondrous Things lifestyle and gift store on Pleasantville Road. "We thought with the holidays and all, it would be nice to give a percentage of sales to them."

The Briarcliff Manor Chamber of Commerce has put on a First Thursday street festival every month since May of this year. Themes included "Barbeque Time," "Artist in the Village," and "Let Us Entertain You." The street festivals are held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For December's "Share the Love" street festival, businesses will be offering free samples of food and drinks and special discounts, including 20 percent off any item with a heart on it at Wondrous Things, a free gift with purchase at Holbrook Cottage and March Boutique, and 20 percent off a bottle of red wine at Orfino's Restaurant.

"It's a good way to kick off the holidays. It's like a holiday open house in the stores," said Sue Taub, the owner of Holbrook Cottage lifestyle gift store. "There are some really nice options now in Briracliff for shopping. A couple of clients in my store have said that shopping in Briarcliff has become really fun, that there are interesting stores, and it's nice to hear that."
