DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Library is bringing M & M Productions Acting Company back for another live theater performance on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m.

The production of “Having Our Say, The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years”, by Emily Mann, is a true story about the struggles and achievements of two African-American women.

The play opens as 103-year-old Sadie and 101-year-old Bessie welcome us into their home in Mount Vernon, N.Y. They then take the audience on a journey through the last 100 years of our nation's history, recounting a series of events and anecdotes drawn from their rich family history and careers as pioneering African-American professionals.

The Delany sisters will be portrayed by actresses Donna D. James and Leslie Smithey, under the direction of Melinda O’Brien.

The performance is free and 90 minutes long with no intermission. Registration is required online or call 203-797-4527. The library is located at 170 Main St., Danbury.

M & M Productions Acting Company is a small traveling theater company with more than 85 productions of classic and contemporary plays with performances conducted at venues within the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.

M & M uses only local artists, including actors, stage managers, directors, set designers and costumers. More than 40 percent of its productions are by local, unpublished playwrights.
