DANBURY, Conn. – The Random Act of Compassion II concert will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at CityCenter Danbury Green.

It will benefit Ann’s Place, a non-profit organization serving people with cancer from throughout Connecticut and the Lower Hudson Valley.

“When life takes an unexpected turn, anyone – regardless of their personal resources – should be able to find comfort, strength and support in their community,” said Nancy Metcalf, who helped found the compassion concert series, in a press release.

“Ann’s Place represents that pillar of strength for thousands of people throughout the region who are living with cancer.”

Bands set to perform are Ovlov, Violent Mae, Fatal Film, Take One Car, Laundry Day, Loom, Backdoor Boys, JFK, Fugitive, J. Chance and This Criminal Soul.

Local vendors will be selling food and beverages. Students from the Western Connecticut State University’s radio station WXCI will emcee the event.

Admission is free. A donation of at least $20 is recommended.

Metcalf said she chose Ann’s Place to be this year’s concert series beneficiary after seeing the plight endured by a friend, who recently was diagnosed with leukemia.

Ann’s Place offers professional counseling, access to support groups and other services.

“We are thrilled to partner with CityCenter Danbury and to be the charity of choice for Random Act of Compassion II,” said Lori Zezza, associate director of events and publicity at Ann’s Place.

“This type of community support allows us to provide free comfort and support services to our neighbors, colleagues, and friends touched by cancer.”
