White Silo Farm and Winery will host "Yoga in the Winery" beginning at 11 a.m. at its facility at 32 Route 37 East in Sherman. Jessica and Jimmy Serra, a Watertown couple who are certified veteran yoga instructors, will lead the yoga class. It will be followed by a wine tasting with iced tea, scones and giveaway of a self-care gift basket worth over $300.

Proceeds benefit For Goodness Sake, which supports individuals transitioning from homelessness and assists them by providing furniture, bedding, and other household items.

“We happened to pop in one Sunday afternoon and made the acquaintance of owner, Eric Gorman,’’ Jessica said. “He said he’d love to partner together in support of this humanitarian effort. Eric and his wife reside in New York City for the majority of the week and have an affinity for practicing yoga. They are extremely passionate about their local wine business, knowledgable of their craft, and down to earth."

The event White Silo Farm is the first at a winery for the Serras. They have participated in a number of charitable events, mostly involving child and animal welfare. Besides yoga, the Serras also own an integrative wellness practice in Litchfield County, primawellness.com, which offers Ayurveda consultations, holistic mental health treatment, couples therapy, nutrition consultations, cooking classes, support groups and yoga therapy. Jessica is a licensed psychotherapist and Jimmy is wellness and nutrition coach, and both are recent graduates of the Himalayan Institute's Ayurveda program.

The event at White Silo will also include music from Kayla Schine on acoustic guitar.

No experience is required for the yoga class, which runs from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. It will be followed by a wine tasting, where non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Wine tasting will begin shortly afterwards. The fee is $25 for pre-registration, and $30 at the door. Online registration is available. Click here to register or to find out more information.
