Focusing on the unique challenges and successes women face today, each featured panelist will share stories of personal and professional growth to empower others.

This year’s panel includes Stamford resident Claudia Poccia, chief marketing officer, Bare Escentuals by Shisheido; Cary Carbonaro, best-selling author, “The Money Queen’s Guide for Women Who Want to Build Wealth and Abolish Fear” and award-winning personal finance expert; Easton resident Susan Doyle, managing director, commercial strategies leader and co-head of real estate for State Street Global Advisors; and Kara Young, co-founder, Hair Rules and board of directors member, Action Against Hunger.

It will be moderated by Kate Bohner, best-selling author and entrepreneur.

“This event is where women and men from throughout Fairfield County and beyond gather not only for networking but for an evening of inspiration,” said Kim Hekking, event co-chair.

One-hundred percent of the net proceeds from WEW go directly to The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education.

Serving lower Fairfield County since 1979, The Center is the area’s only non-profit agency dedicated to educating the local community about the issue of sexual assault and supporting victims and their families.

Last year, The Center provided counseling for 578 people and preventative education to more than 17,000, including more than 15,000 children and 2,000 adults.

“Sexual assault has received much national attention this year, but the reality is that sexual violence is, at its core, a community problem,” said Ivonne Zucco, Executive Director of The Center.

"That’s why twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, our staff and volunteers work diligently to improve the local response to this issue. Our motto is to empower, educate and eliminate.”

This year’s WEW event takes place during national sexual assault awareness month and will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel, 700 East Main St.

Tickets start at $50 for those under 21; $100 or those 21 or older. For more information, visit Bit.ly/wew17
