Bridgeport Gets 15 Minutes Of Fame In New Amazon Show, 'Sneaky Pete'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A new Amazon drama starring Giovanni Ribisi and Bryan Cranston takes place in and around Bridgeport and Trumbull, though filming took place elsewhere.

"Sneaky Pete," on Amazon, revolves around a con-man (Giovanni Ribisi) who, after leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete.

The 10-show series, created by Cranston and David Shore (of "House" fame), follows Marius Josipovic (Ribisi), a released convict who passes himself off as the long-lost grandson (the "Pete" in the show's title) of a family that runs a Bridgeport bail-bond shop.

While Pete's family doesn't have reason to suspect he's not their long-lost loved one, they each have their own secrets that could make life as dangerous as the world Marius was hoping to escape.

The show's cast is rounded out by Marin Ireland, Shane McRae, Libe Barer, Michael Drayer, Peter Gerety, and Margo Martindale.

The series premiered Friday, January 13 exclusively on Amazon Video and, at least in the early episodes, includes a host of Connecticut references including the fact that one of Pete’s cousins is supposed to be a Bridgeport police officer. (Look for the Bridgeport patch on the officer's arm in a police station scene in the first episode.)
