DANBURY, Conn. -- Do you owe library fines in Danbury? Is your DVD overdue? The Danbury Library is offering a deal called food for fines this week.

If you bring your overdue Danbury Library materials back, donate canned food (no expired dates) and update your account information using appropriate ID, your fines will be waived, the library announced. It does not matter if the item is one day or 10 years late.

You can also get any fines waived on your account with a donation, the library said.

The food for fines deal lasts through Sunday, April 28.

Also, if you have lost your library card, you can get a free replacement with a food donation.

Items returned to the library must be in good condition. Damaged items will be subject to replacement charges. This offer does not apply to interlibrary loan materials or collection fees.

The Danbury Library is located at 170 Main St. Call 203-797-4505 or visit its website for more information.
