The study analyzed nearly 500 cities and considered household income, home values, percent of homes without a mortgage and average credit limits.

The top 20 cities in each region are listed at the site.

The wealthiest city in the northeast is Newton, Mass., according to the statistics.

Danbury, along with two other Fairfield County cities, Stamford at number four and Norwalk at number five, were the only other cities in the state of Connecticut to make the list.

NerdWallet notes in its analysis that all three cities have a minimum of one Fortune 500 company in their midst: Praxair in Danbury, Charter Communications in Stamford and Xerox in Norwalk.

Despite finishing behind its neighbors, Danbury has nothing to be ashamed of.

According to the rankings at NerdWallet, the city’s median household income is $69,394, the median home value is $245,700 and 26 percent of homes have no mortgage.

The average credit limit for credit card holders in Danbury is $38,628, NerdWallet reports.
