DANBURY, Conn. -- Dog lovers will want to pick up a few extra cans of dog food to help feed all the picky little puppies and dogs at Danbury's Tails of Courage.

Officials with the nonprofit that helps shelter and find homes for animals in Danbury said they are in desperate need of canned dog food.

"We have picky eater puppies and dogs here who absolutely love canned food mixed in with their kibble, and we have close to none left," they announced on Facebook.

The food can be dropped off at Tails of Courage, 39 Smith St., in the donation bin out front, as well for after-hours donations.

In addition to food, the organization always needs used blankets or towels, as well as cleaning supplies, treats, collars and leashes.

Founded in 2009 by a survivor of the World Trade Center attacks in an effort to honor the heroes lost in the tragedy, the mission of Tails of Courage is to help as much as possible with various programs within the communities it serves. The group is entirely funded by donations and depends on volunteers.
