DVlicious Bagel Contest Includes Danbury's Bagelman As Top Contender

BROOKFIELD/DANBURY, Conn. -- It’s impossible to live here and not have a bagel opinion. The New York area, as everyone knows, is the bagel capital of the world. And yes, it’s worth waiting in line on a Sunday morning to get one of these doughy wonders fresh out of the oven. Toasting, as a bagel purist knows, is not necessary when you buy the very best.

The crew at Bagelman takes a break from baking to show off the wide selection of bagels at the Brookfield and Danbury locations.

Bagelman (three locations; two in Danbury area: 39-B Mill Plain Rd., (203) 748-2464, and 40 1/2 Padanaram Rd. (203)792-0030; and 14 Candlewood Lake Rd. in Brookfield (202) 775-4005)

What Makes Them Bagelicious: The bagels are dubbed "the great round one;" they are made fresh every day — boiled and baked seven days a week.

Crazy Flavors: Bagelman serves up a wide and classic assortment every day: Plain, poppy, sesame, cinnamon raisin, onion, garlic, salt, pumpernickel, egg and the "everything" along with specialty flavors of oatbran, blueberry, cranberry, multigrain and sundried tomato. Grab your bagel with one of the many cream cheese options: plain, vegetable, scallion, olive, bacon bit, strawberry or walnut and raisin. Or get it with lox, peanut butter and jelly or butter, or make a sandwich on your bagel.

Reminder: The contest ends Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m. You can vote multiple times, albeit once per day.
