Student entrepreneurs from throughout the state will descend on Hamden beginning Saturday, June 2 for a free startup acceleration program offering more than 25 different startup planning workshops as well as individualized coaching sessions from leading startup educators.

Spread over three June weekends, the pilot Startup Summer Camp effort is sponsored by the CTNext unit of Connecticut Innovations in partnership with the Connecticut Consortium of Entrepreneurship Educators.

"Startup Summer Camp will help student-founded startups throughout the state, whether their business is merely the germ of an idea or a growing new company striving for customer and investor traction,” says Bob Dorf, co-author of the bestselling Startup Owner’s Manual and half of the teaching/coaching team.

Joining Dorf is Quinnipiac Entrepreneurship Professor Dr. Dale Jasinski, Ph.D., an entrepreneur-turned-educator. Between them, the duo has founded a fistful of startups—not all of which succeeded—and coached and mentored literally hundreds over decades.

The intensive training program is built on the leading “lean startup” or “customer development” methodology Dorf helped develop. It guides founders as they challenge and test every component of their business — from product features to marketing to pricing and more — with potential customers, the only people whose opinions matter.

“We’re very excited to launch this program for students from throughout the state,” says Mike Roer, a leader of the Connecticut Consortium.

The application process is simple and space is limited, particularly on opening day with more than 50 entrepreneurs already registered. All programs are free, including lunches and snacks, and the first 50 entrepreneurs to arrive will each receive a free, autographed copy of “The Startup Owner’s Manual.”

Space is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with registration and schedule details available at www.ctstartupcamp.com.
