A nondenominational contest, the program encourages decorations, of any kind, on the outside of buildings, in windows, on doors and in display cases.
"We want Downtown to sparkle this holiday season, and we welcome creative, clever, and unique displays to complement our traditional Main Street holiday lights," said Prunty.
There will be prizes awarded: First place is $500; second place is $250, and third place is $125.
Winners will be selected by Mayor Mark Boughton, Emanuela Palmares (editor, Tribuna) and Jacqueline Smith (editor, News-Times).
Prizes will be in the form of CityCenter gift certificates, which can be redeemed at downtown participating restaurants, bars, retail stores and other businesses.
Registration forms are available on the CityCenter website, citycenterdanbury.com, and must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 30.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award of $250. Admirers of Downtown's decorations may vote for their favorites, beginning Monday, Dec, 12, through New Year's Day, by visiting citycenterdanbury.com.
