Classic, traditional options, along with newfangled flavors, can be found in all corners of Fairfield County with a number of versions served a variety of ways (hello whipped cream, fudge, sprinkles and waffle cones).
You, however, picked five nominees for the best ice cream in the county, meaning now's the time to nail down the winner.

Years in Business: Owner Al Diguido, famous for his local charity Al's Angels, opened the business on April 28, 2014.
What Makes Their Ice Cream Special: They scoop up only ice cream made at Longford's Ice Cream, a small creamery in Port Chester, N.Y. It's all small batch, all-natural premium ice cream. It's served at only a handful of ice cream shops in the region.
Number of Flavors: Saugatuck Sweets dishes up over 30 varieties of hard ice cream, soft serve and frozen yogurt. You can also order up sundaes with locally flavored names such as Great Gatsby, the I-95, the Minute Man, and Compo Beach.
Most Popular: The most in demand is the Caramel Sea Salt, made with a vanilla base and a swirl of ingredients. It's ordered 3-to-1 over any other flavor, says Diguido.
