Over 110 people attended the talk Sunday in the Fairoly Program Room as Quinn shared her own family's stories of aging, told a few jokes and talked about her new book, "How to Make Your Money Last: The Indispensable Retirement Guide."

Quinn, a best-selling author and the founding editorial director of Daily Voice, says the book has been on her mind for several years. "There are tons of books on retirement lifestyle advice and lots of books on how to invest in retirement, but there wasn't a book on how to turn whatever savings you have into a reliable income for life," she said.

Her book addresses those concerns, offering ideas and recipes for increasing the income you get from your savings and investments, maintaining that income for life, and simple tools such as index mutual funds and immediate pay annuities.

If you missed the talk, don't despair. Quinn will also speak at the following Connecticut libraries:

  • Sunday, Feb. 7, 2 p.m., Ridgefield Library , 472 Main St., 203-438-2282.
  • Sunday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m., Trumbull Library , 33 Quality St., 203-452-5197.
