The council is spearheading a drive to install a permanent commemorative walkway lined with bricks engraved with the names of honored men and women who have served our country, says Lee Teicholz, who spearheaded the fundraising campaign. The project is dubbed the Veterans Walkway of Honor.
Anyone who has served honorably in the armed forces, is currently on active duty or is in any veterans organization is eligible to be honored, Teicholz said.
Proceeds will go directly to the Danbury War Memorial with a portion from each brick sale going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
"What better way to honor America's veterans and to preserve the memory of a loved one who served bravely for our country," said Teicholz.
Phase 1 brick sales must be completed by April 15 to allow time for ordering and installing the bricks. A dedication ceremony is to be held near Memorial Day.
A brick order form can be found online along with information on pricing and brick logo choices.
A 4-by-8-inch brick without a logo will sell for $100 and with a logo for $125. The brick can be engraved with one to four lines of inscription.
An 8-by-8-inch brick without a logo will sell for $225 and with a logo for $250. The larger brick can be inscribed with one to eight lines.

Danbury Council of Veterans consists of six veterans organizations and is responsible for making arrangements for and conducting all Veterans Memorial ceremonies in Danbury. In addition, it is responsible for organizing and carrying out the Memorial Day Parade.
The Danbury War Memorial Association Inc. is a nonprofit recreational and educational facility located in Rogers Park.
