The kickoff of the program will be held at the Danbury Library on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Junior Department.
“I am very excited to offer the program at the Danbury Library and to bring other partners together with the focus on children and reading,” said Cindy Lappala, children’s programmer at the Danbury Library. “Parents are a child’s first teacher and we want to provide as much support and encouragement to them as possible.”
At the kickoff, parents will receive a packet of information along with a list of recommended books. Drawings will be held for books provided by “Reading is Fundamental,” which is supported by Macy’s, along with information on how to register for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails a free children’s book monthly to each child under the age of 5 in the family .
The program is free of charge. Registration for the kickoff is required online at danburylibrary.org, click on “Events,” or call 203-797-4528.
