Wallace began his term Aug. 1.

He served 10 years as a state representative in the Connecticut General Assembly, serving on the education committee. He also worked as an assistant to the mayor and administrative manager in Danbury.

Wallace has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary.

He currently is the director of relationship management for Commonfund, a nonprofit organization focused on asset management for nonprofits and educational programs. Prior to joining Commonfund, Wallace owned and operated a Money Concepts financial planning firm.

“Lew Wallace’s decade of experience in the state legislature and his understanding of the financial realities for nonprofits will be a tremendous resource,” said Doug Fisher, Connecticut Humanities’ executive director. “We look forward to tapping into the knowledge he brings to the Connecticut Humanities Board of Directors.”

Wallace, who will serve on the board’s audit committee, joins Mystic Museum of Art Deputy Director Dawn Salerno and New Haven’s Frank Mitchell as new board members.

The board is responsible for reviewing grant applications, setting policies, reviewing budgets, assisting in the fundraising process, participating in committee work and serving as an important link between Connecticut Humanities and the public.
