Danbury Museum & Historical Society Joins 'Giving Day' Fundraiser

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Friends of the Danbury Museum & Historical Society is reminding the community of a great opportunity to give where you live: 2015 Fairfield County Giving Day.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation, which initiated Giving Day, has a goal of raising $1 million for local nonprofit organizations in 24 hours.

From midnight to 11:59 p.m. March 5, residents are encouraged to donate toward local philanthropic organizations of their choice through FCGives.org. The minimum donation is $10.

It's an easy and secure, 24-hour online opportunity to help the Danbury Museum & Historical Society with its mission to acquire, preserve and exhibit the history of the city of Danbury.

Last year, contributions from residents earned the Danbury Museum & Historical Society an extra $1,000 matching gift award.

First, $1,000 prizes will be awarded to the organizations with the most unique donors in the following hours:

  • Rise & Shine: 6 to 7 a.m.
  • Lunch Special: Noon to 1 p.m.
  • Quitting Time: 4 to 5 p.m.
  • Super Power Hour: 7 to 8 p.m.

Two $1,000 random drawings will take place for all nonprofits that receive donations during these hours:

  • Coffee Break: 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Night Owl: 11 to 11:59 p.m.

As an added bonus, all who are able to contribute $25 or more will automatically become a member of Friends of the Danbury Museum & Historical Society.
