Founded in 1982, the Dorothy Day Hospitality House provides food and shelter to those in need in the Danbury area. It serves 80 to 120 hot meals each afternoon and provide shelter to 16 people each night. The house is run entirely by volunteers.
“Volunteering at the shelter is a humbling experience that left me grateful for all that I have,” said Lucille Harriman, Wells Fargo district manager for Greater Danbury.
“Particularly during the holiday season, it’s important to realize that we can make a true difference in the lives of the people in our own community.”
The grant is part of Wells Fargo’s Community Connections program, which recognizes nonprofits making a difference in their communities.
