The Amur leopard is listed as a critically endangered species by the World Wildlife Fund, with a worldwide population of about 30 animals. The zoo hopes to receive a breeding recommendation for the two cats.

In order to make room for the new cats, the Beardsley Zoo sent their female Amur leopard, Sofiya, to the Maryland Zoo.

The Beardsley Zoo is located at 1875 Noble Ave. in Bridgeport. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $14 for adults and $10 for kids and seniors.

Admission will be reduced to $5 on Monday, Jan. 19, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
