Fairfield County Actress Tracee Elllis Ross Gets Emmy Nod

GREENWICH, Conn. — Onetime Greenwich resident — and noted actor — Tracee Ellis Ross is among the nominees for the 68th Emmy Awards.

Ross's nomination was announced Thursday morning in Los Angeles for her role as Rainbow Johnson in ABC's "black-ish." 

She is competing in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series against fellow nominees Laurie Metcalf from HBO's "Getting On," Lily Tomlin from Netflix's "Grace And Frankie," Amy Schumer from Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer," Ellie Kemper from "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," another Netflix production, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus from HBO's "Veep."

Ross, 43, is the daughter of Diana Ross and Robert Ellis Silberstein and grew up in Greenwich. She has also been on "Girlfriends" and "Reed Between the Lines." 

Her ABC comedy "black-ish" was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and her co-start Anthony Anderson was nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

The awards, including the star-studded Red Carpet pre-show, will telecast from The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. The show is hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
