The Girl Scouts visited the three locations to learn about the types of careers available at the company and key career-building skills, according to a press release. The Girl Scouts heard from and spoke with more than 25 GE employees at all three sites about the areas of finance, HR, IT, and marketing last month.
Girls interviewed the employees about their job responsibilities and what the employees enjoyed most about their jobs. In addition, girls participated in a variety of interactive activities, including creating a company, according to the release.
The day’s events were a part of Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s Career Week, in which girls across the state participated in various career-building and mentorship activities with local business partners.
"These activities are all a small part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, the organization’s national program portfolio that prepares girls to become active leaders in their workplace and communities," a press release said. "Specifically, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience helps a girl discover herself and her values, connect with others to build healthy relationships, and take action to make the world a better place."
Girl Scouts of Connecticut is the largest girl-empowerment organization in the state, serving nearly 44,000 girls and more than 18,000 adult members. Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
