The announcement was made in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 15.
Chef Nishan, an acclaimed leader in the sustainable food movement and a Fairfield resident, is joined by Suzanne Goin, a multiple James Beard award-winning chef and restaurateur of A.O.C., Lucques, and Tavern in Los Angeles; Evan Kleiman, a culinarian and host of KCRW’s "Good Food Los Angeles;" Rajat Parr of Domaine de la Cote in Lompoc, Calif., and Roger Berkowitz, president and CEO, Legal Sea Foods in Boston.
In 2015, Chef Nischan, a pioneering sustainability advocate, received the 2015 James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year award. Fairfield County residents may also know him from his time as chef of the former Dressing Room Restaurant in Westport, and also as co-founder of the Chefs Action Network.
"It’s so amazing to be honored again by the James Beard Foundation, and especially to be included in such a prestigious group of accomplished professionals," said Chef Nishan.
"To know that peers and colleagues feel I could be worthy of this recognition is humbling. That said, my coffee tastes so much sweeter this morning!"
